Dr Stylianos Papas received his medical degree at University of Athens, Greece in 1993. After 7 years of training in general and vascular surgery at the First Surgical and Vascular Department, University Hospital of Athens, he was board certified as a Vascular Surgeon in Greece and Cyprus in 2002. During this period he was also trained in vascular ultrasound techniques at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College School of Medicine. In 2002 he continued his training as Endovascular Research Fellow in the Vascular Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Australia. He returned to Cyprus in 2003 and since then been working in private practise. He is presently the Director of SP Vascular Centre and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at Polyclinic Ygia Hospital and Mediterrenean Hospital in Limassol and recently at Blue Cross Hospital in Paphos.

Despite having a busy arterial practise,Dr Papas has developed his interest in the treatment in venous disease focusing mainly in new minimal invasive techniques for venous diseases .In 2006 he was invited at River’s Oak Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi, USA, where he had training in endovascular treatment obstructive venous disease with the pioneers in this field, Prof. Raju and Prof. Neglén.

After this Dr Papas,with the support of Dr Neglén, developed a fully equipped vascular department for venous disease and introduced the new techniques of endovenous laser ablation for varicose veins and thrombolysis and stenting for venous thrombosis in Cyprus.

Dr Papas is a founding member and president of the board of the Cyprus Vascular and Endovascular Society. He was been member of the organizing committee and member of the Faculty of EVF Hands-on Workshop held in Cyprus in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. He has contributed chapters in five medical books, produced 36 scientific papers and given more than 50 oral presentations at local and international congresses.
