Clinical Experience
Previous appointments
2013 July – 2014 November:
Senior Clinical Fellow in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Upper GI Surgery, (Supervisor: Mr Satvinder Mudan, MBBS, BSc, MD, FRCS Consultant Surgeon ).
Department of Academic Surgery, Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham Road, SW3 6JJ, London, United Kingdom
In Royal Marsden Hospital (but also in London Clinic as part of my private surgical activity) I had the oportunity to actively participating, attending, presenting and contributing to the weekly pancreas, liver, and Upper GI MDT meetings and this has given me the experience & confidence needed to make complex decisions as part of a multidisciplinary set-up in these patient’s care pathway. I saw patients in both the benign and cancer clinics, in conjunction with my Consultants and also on my own occasionally as a Senior Clinical Fellow in HPB and Upper GI Surgery. I have gained significant experience in the operating theatres during this period and have been trained to perform all common HPB operations, carrying them out mostly under supervision but latterly on my own with my trainer uncscrubbed in theatre. These include:
• Cholecystectomy including management of CBD stones both by open and laparoscopic approaches.
• Pancreatic resections (both open and Laparoscopic approaches).
• Liver resections including major and minor resections (both open and Laparoscopic approaches).
• Complex biliary surgery including biliary reconstructions and bile duct injuries.
• Complex UGI, peritoneal cavity sarcomas, and, other surgical oncology procedures

2011, October– 2013, June (Training Post): Senior SpR, Surgery
Div. HPB and Surgical Oncology, (Supervisor: Consultant in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and General Surgery, Athanasios Petrou in “Department of Surgery/Div. HPB, Nicosia General Hospital, Cyprus l”) involving a 1:4 – 1:5 on call rota.
During my training in Surgery in this very busy department, I was mainly occupied in HPB and Surgical Oncology team commitments, having the opportunity to gain valuable experience in HPB and Surgical

Clinical Experience(cont..)

Oncology surgery (actively participated in over 50 liver resections, 30 Whipple’s, 120 colorectal cancer cases, 30 Oesophagogastric procedures).

2007, January – 2011, September (Training Post): Specialist Registrar in General Surgery in Department of Surgery, Nicosia General Hospital, Cyprus
During my training in general surgery I was exposed to a wide range of general surgical conditions and all surgical emergencies. I performed minor and major operations under consultant supervision, having the opportunity to enrich my surgical skills. I was involved in 1:4 shift rotations being responsible for the general surgery department and emergency general surgery and trauma.
